The Clear Lake School Board has established a life-threatening allergy policy. Along with the policy, the district wellness committee developed the following regulations. The final adoption of the regulations were voted and approved by the School Board at the regular school board meeting Monday, Feb. 25, 2008.The regulations are summarized in the following points:

• The life threatening situation must have medical documentation and a district Allergy Action Plan.
• The lunch program will not be serving any items that contain peanuts or nuts products. This includes monster cookies, crunch bars, peanut butter cookies and sandwiches.
• Any students, parents, or staff who eats a non-school lunch will be required to sit at the cold lunch tables which are designated by cold lunch signs. The reason for different tables is so that the tables can be wiped off before the next lunch shift.
• No homemade treats or food items are permitted unless it is included in the classroom curriculum.
• All treats must be commercially prepared and packaged for distribution with intact ingredient labels. Treats may be distributed by the classroom teacher for special occasions such as birthday or holiday parties.
• No pets are allowed in any school building unless they are included in the curriculum.
